Everywhere you look and everything you read it is about layoffs, higher unemployment levels, store and business closings and more. But I believe that this is all bunk. Granted things are tough. Banks are going under, the stock market is crashing, real estate is at its lowest point since 1985 and there is enough doom and gloom out there for a century of headlines…but I believe this is the perfect opportunity for anyone who ever had a yearning to start a new venture to just do it. There is a saying that a “ship is never tested in calm waters”, well the waters could not getting any more stormy. And to rely on someone else to help you through them right now is probably unrealistic. Everyone and every company is holding on tight and hoping that the storm passes and that they are still on their feet.

Where does that leave you? You may have recently lost your job or your retirement savings has been dwindled away by the market yet life goes on. The kids need clothes, the house payment needs to be paid and above all else you cannot at this point in your live start over. You need to make money NOW!!! And in some cases you need to make a lot of money NOW!!!

Well I have a plan that can help you survive the rough times and create for yourself a way to be self employed making a lot of money without very little invested and best of all you will be working for yourself. Do you have any idea how liberating it is to work for yourself. You work your own hours, you carve out the time to do what you want and you make as much money as you want depending on how hard you work and how committed you are.

Over the past 14 years I bought and sold on eBay. I worked three days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week) and about 6-8 hours each of those three days.  At first I sold what I had around the house and as my sales increased I bought more stuff and it worked. I used a formula on eBay. If I wanted to make $2000 a week I would need to list about 250 auctions a week and on average 60-65% of the auctions sold at an average of about $16.50 per item. Well as time went on I evolved my business to selling only antique and vintage costume and fine jewelry. I did this for three reasons: First, it was easy and cheap (bubble wrap and padded envelopes) to pack and ship. Second, costume jewelry is an expensive luxury. And three, costume jewelry was easy to come by. I would buy huge lots of jewelry on eBay for under $3.00 per piece and usually average between $9.00-12.00 when it sold. So there you have it… I was spending on average about $600 on merchandise and eBay fees a week and putting $2,000. In the bank and all I had to do was work about 20 hours a week and work the hours of the day that I wanted.

Well unfortunately eBay became greedy and their fees skyrocketed and their new business philosophy was unkind to the small specialty boutique seller, like myself. So I started VBMShops.com.

VBMShops is the first of its kind and the beginning of a new and exciting concept and era in online marketing. Unlike all of the “cookie cutter- eBay want to be’s” VBMShops is a “Street of Shops” of auction and fixed price boutiques for antique, vintage and new merchandise of all kinds. Unlike any other site on the internet, VBMShops is comprised of specialty store boutiques and each boutique has a distinct attitude reminiscent of the fine boutiques found throughout the world.  These boutiques will provide the seller and collector of rare and hard to find one of kind merchandise a place to shop and sell. VBMShops, as it grows will provide an amazing assortment of estate collectible and newer merchandise from every era and for every connoisseur. As a gift to the many wonderful sellers and buyers out there and knowing that times are tough, VBMShops is offering on any of the boutiques, FREE 60 DAYS OF UNLIMITED AUCTION OR FIXED PRICE LISTINGS so that you can try us out and see what a difference this Street of Shops concept can offer.

I am a 14 year veteran and Powerseller and buyer at eBay and I know what sellers and buyers are looking for and this is why VBMShops took flight. VBMShops is geared to meet the needs of the small boutique buyers and sellers of Vintage, Antique and Newer merchandise. These sellers and buyers have been forgotten in the new philosophical direction that eBay has adopted. Quite literally eBay has turned into a wholesaler like Kmart or Walmart, pushing tons of new cheaply foreign made things into the marketplace and “wanting to be all things to all people”. The small boutique buyer and seller are looking for more…they want a one of a kind selling and shopping experience from the convenience and comfort of their own home.

VBMShops has the “bones and body” of eBay but the “heart and soul” of a fine specialty store boutique, each having a qualified “shopkeeper” to share their expertise and trends that are occurring on the horizon.

The first three boutiques are opened and ready for sellers and buyers and include

Vintage Gems Emporium for antique, vintage and new fine and costume jewelry at www.vintagegemsemporium.com Just4Collectibles for all types of new and used collectibles at www.just4collectibles.com Art Antiques Galleria for fine art and estate furniture and accessories at www.artsantiquesgalleria.com

Currently VBMShops needs sellers and buyers of antique, vintage and new costume and fine jewelry, collectibles of all kinds and fine art and antique items. And remember, that for the next 60 days there are no fees for anything on the site. Visit www.VBMShops.com today and click on one of three auction and fixed price venues open for business and register and begin selling and buying.

VBMShops was started with four distinct philosophical strategies:

To be the only online auction boutique venue for antique, vintage and newer merchandise in environments that reflect the character and quality of the merchandise. To be the least costly online marketplace for sellers, having low listing, no final valuation fees on anything selling for less than $100.00 and the lowest FVF on the web for sales over $100.00, plus lots of free extras. To provide fair and equal treatment of both sellers and buyers. To provide all non-profit organizations a place to list an unlimited number of auctions at absolutely no cost, FOREVER.

By the end of April 2009, five more boutiques will open and include:

Vintage Clothes Closet for antique and vintage clothing and accessoriesRTW Closet for newer and used clothing and accessories Athletes Pavilion for sporting goods Vintage Sports Fanatics for sports memorabilia Feathers 4 My Nest for home and garden

In May 2009 five more boutiques will open and include:

Blissful Baby for mom, newborn and toddler Ab-Fab-Body health and beauty aids Artsi-Craftsi for handmade arts and crafts 4 Legs 1 Tail for pet accessories and products Toys2Hobbies for children and adult toys and hobbies

More than 30 other boutiques will open over the next couple months and will include Books & Ephemera, Coins & Stamps, Bridal Boutique, Bed & Bath, Kitchen & Gourmet, Antique & Vintage Motor Vehicles, Ethnic & Tribal Peoples, China, Silver & Glass, Electronics, Music & Movie, Camera & Photography, Capitals of the World, Real Estate, and Luxury and much more as we see what the worldwide market thrust indicates. VBMShops will evaluate potential leasors who want their very own stand alone store front in our “street of shops”.

Registration to sell or buy at VBMShops is FREE and easy so sign up today by visiting www.VBMShops.com.

Vermaport SC in a Target in Nashua, New Hampshire
The Vermaport Cart Conveying System is the trademarked name of conveyor systems built by Darrott (Germany) that are designed to transport shopping carts between floors of a retail establishment or to transport or store luggage carts at airports or other transportation hubs. Vermaport Cart Conveying Systems are alternatives to inclined moving walkways, a Vermaport will take up much less space than the walkway.
Vermaport SC
The Vermaport SC (Shopping Cart) is typically used in discount retailers such as Target and Kmart, as well as furniture store IKEA, and the retail chain Bed Bath and Beyond. Essentially an escalator, the device uses specially designed shopping carts and transports them between levels in shopping complexes. It is often socially referred to as a cartalator due to their resemblance and frequent proximity to the passenger escalator.
Vermaports level carts using three valleys. Specialized carts have their front wheels set closer together and out of parallel to the back, outset, wheels. For upwards travel, the inset wheels glide along the center valley, the outset wheels ride on the two higher outer valleys. This allows the shopping cart to stay level along an inclined path. On the way down, the center valley is higher and the side valleys are lower to allow the cart to transport level while facing down. Due to these valleys, shopping carts on the Vermaport SC do not have the typical plastic or metal grate shelf below the basket of the shopping cart that is used to carry large or bulk items.
An installed Vermaport system is typically located next to an escalator, moving at the same speed, so as to allow a shopping cart to be transported alongside a shopper as he or she moves between floors. The conveyance is accomplished by a belt of hard rubber teeth that grab near the wheels of the cart as a shopper guides it into the entrance of the Vermaport.
The world’s largest Vermaport is located in Kmart in Middle Village, Queens, New York City, New York. It has a length of 120ft (37m) and a vertical rise of 50ft (15m).
Vermaport LC
The Vermaport LC (Luggage Cart) is based on the same engineering principles and the SC model. It allows travellers and their luggage to travel between floors in transportation terminals such as an airport. The LC system allows for items wider than what would fit into a shopping cart on the Vermaport SC.
Vermaport RS
The Vermaport RS (Return System) is used to store luggage carts which are typically rental fee based. Personnel at an arrival or departure area will gather abandoned luggage carts and return them to the Vermaport RS. The carts will be automatically feed into the Vermaport and will wait for a traveler to retrieve one by inserting the required fee.

(Redirected from Yankee Candle)

The Yankee Candle store in the Newport Center Mall in Jersey City, New Jersey.
The Yankee Candle Company is the largest U.S. manufacturer of scented candles. The company is located in South Deerfield, Massachusetts.
History
Yankee Candle Company was started in South Hadley, Massachusetts when Michael Kittredge created his first scented candle from melted crayons, as a gift for his mother. Neighbors began expressing interest in buying his creations, and Kittredge began producing them in larger quantities. The company itself was founded with help from Donald MacIver and Susan Obremski, who were high school friends with Kittredge.[citation needed] MacIver helped fund the start-up business with earnings from his part-time job.[citation needed] Candle production grew considerably after Obremski’s father devised a “heated room”, which enabled cost-saving liquid wax deliveries at the first factory site in Holyoke. Obremski’s invention of a turntable taper wheel allowed production to double, while at the same time decreasing the need for more labor hours.[citation needed] In 1975, she managed the first Yankee Candle Shop located where the Village Commons, South Hadley now stands.[citation needed]
The company slowly expanded and moved to South Deerfield, Massachusetts in 1983.
After a cancer scare in 1993, Kittredge started handing the company over to a friend and employee. In 1998, he sold the company to New York based private equity company Forstmann Little for $500 million. Forstmann took the company public in 1999, and in 2001, hired Craig Rydin as a CEO. Rydin launched a major advertising campaign and the line was picked up by mass retailers Linens-N-Things and Bed, Bath and Beyond, pushing sales to their highest levels yet. Kittredge remains the company’s chairman emeritus.
During the summer of 2006, Yankee Candle purchased Illuminations, a Petaluma, CA based, multi-channel retailer of high quality candles and home accessories. Although the two companies are similar, the names are separated, with Illuminations being aimed at a different demographic.
On February 6th, 2007, the company was acquired by the private equity group of Madison Dearborn Partners LLC for approximately $1.6 billion.
Flagship store

The grounds outside the candle making museum.
Yankee Candle’s flagship store, off Routes 5 & 10 in South Deerfield, Mass, is one of New England’s most popular tourist attractions. It features not only a selection of all available Yankee Candles but also kitchen and home accessories, New England crafts, gifts and collectibles, a toy shop, picnic grounds and a “Bavarian Christmas Village” filled with decorated Christmas trees and a toy train that runs through to Santa’s Workshop, where animated elves and an ‘assembly line’ for wooden vehicles surround Santa Claus’s desk. Visitors can dip their own candles in a specially equipped area and there is a candle making museum. The shop’s award-winning Chandler’s Tavern serves American cuisine and fine wines.
A second flagship store was opened in Williamsburg, VA in 2005. The store is 10,000square feet (930m2) and is about 1/3 the size of the South Deerfield, MA store.

Affordable and Comfortable Homes for Rent and Lease

Posted by admin | Posted in Bedding & Bath | Posted on 08-03-2010

You can end your search for home for rent or for lease by browsing the list given in our database. After a thorough in depth research for the same we have succeeded to gathering as many as homes for rent in and around US, our listing can be reduced by the date of availability, beds, baths and most importantly, we have modified our website making it more simple and hassle free to find homes for lease. For more convenience for the clients, there is an addition of a very vital factor that is mapping viability and goggle maps, allowing you to see the exact site where the home for rent is physically located.

To make the search more easier, we have included 8 to 10 pictorial details of the site, with addition of the important criteria’s like schools and colleges, 24×7 gas service stations, hospitals and rehab centres, malls, theatres, accessibility of stations and other modes of transit, availability of technicians, plumbers, masons etc. In brief you will get the exact topographical idea of the location.

Time and again, it has been agreed and confirmed that the above very important and immensely helpful factors cannot be neglected by anyone whenever and wherever; one is looking for a house for rent or lease. It has also been universally accepted that investment in property business would be a very profitable venture for both the buyer as well as seller. Property development and estate building business has been considered to be one of the most zooming and profit making business in contemporary streams of business venture. For the fear of being in the competitive market, many avenues and huge apartments have been mushrooming at a comparatively brisk rate offering incredible rebates. Estates consultancy and middleman or agents prevents from purchasing the property from the retail seller and would end up costing you dear by paying high fees in terms of brokerage, documentation and transfer fees, or other commission.

Apartments for rent or lease facilitates one to give more time in locating the perfect kind of apartment according to the requirements and most importantly the budget, his tastes, likes and dislikes, to be well versed with locality, its neighborhood, market place and get familiar with the vicinity.Eventhough couples, large families have mainly  in the apartments which are usually spacious. Some may differ with the idea of apartment for rent like students, tourists or couples with a live-in relationship, since they may find it expensive or schools or colleges may be much farther from the actual locality.

Another factor not to be ignored is rental listings for homes and apartments, gone are the days of old traditional ways of advertisements through news papers, billboards, word of mouth, verbal marketing or canvassing, shop windows etc. With the frequent usage of computer and internet, and its power and speed you can now advertise your vacation or holiday home rental. It will prove to be speedy, time, money and energy is saved and it’s cost effective. Without advertisement for rental listing of homes, it would be like blinking at the girl in the dark, you know what are you doing, she doesn’t.

Rebrand Your Company to Boost Your Bottom Line

0

Posted by admin | Posted in Bedding & Bath | Posted on 08-03-2010

When asked, most business owners will admit that their companies have changed, adapted and evolved over time, to better serve their clients needs. These natural course corrections will often lead to entirely new products and services, yet the original corporate identity often remains in place. This old, static image can be confusing at best and costly at worst.

• Only a tiny fraction of Radio Shack’s sales comes from radios.

• Southwest Airlines flies all over the U.S.

• Burlington Coat Factory sells more than just coats (and has used a good deal of marketing budget to drive that message home)

• CompUSA (Computers in the United States?) filed for bankruptcy while Best Buy continues on.

One sure sign that you may need to rebrand is if you find yourself continually explaining what your company really does. Minnesota Mining & Manufacturing had to rebrand to 3M to accommodate their growth into other areas. Kentucky Fried Chicken rebadged to KFC, allowing them to expand their menu and avoid the negative connotations of “fried” foods.

Another way to look at the issue is to think in terms of a drag co-efficient. If your company brand is outdated, inaccurate or misleading, estimate how much more advertising it requires to explain and clarify the message — 20%, 30%, more? And what about lost opportunity costs of potential clients who simply don’t consider your company when it comes to buying your products and services. Would most consumers know that The Company Store sells bedding, bath accessories and sleepwear?

One solution? Make the shift from a product-identified name to a metaphor type name. For example, rather than having a name such as Muffler City, which keeps you locked into one category, consider the example of Midas Muffler, which plays off King Midas’s golden touch to convey excellence in workmanship. When Midas expanded from mufflers to brakes and shocks, they didn’t need to change their name. In fact, they simplified it to Midas.

Apple also chose wisely, which allowed them to officially drop the word “Computers” from their name last year and expand into music. Amazon used the image of rich diversity and abundance, and their product line expanded to fit the image. Books-A-Million, a product-identified brand name, works hard to let consumers know they also sell kids toys and coffee mugs.

Another alternative when rebranding a company is to go with a key attribute name. These timeless names work well even when your products and services change. They focus on the benefit behind your company and not the goods it currently offers. Examples include the previously mentioned Best Buy, as well as Sir Speedy, Priceline, Service Masters, TruValue, Comfort Inn, etc. By aligning with your core benefit, you can continually modify your service offerings without having to change your company name.

Re-branding your business can improve your bottom line by conveying your company’s core value and brand message. It can shift your sales team’s focus from a defensive posture (i.e. explaining common misconceptions about your company,) to a more productive discussion of your key benefits and solutions.  If you find yourself limited by a product identified, or geographically-identified company name, rebranding offers the opportunity to clarify your image, while allowing room for future growth.

Health Benefits of Green Salads

Health Benefits of Green Salads

Green leaves are nutrient rich because they contain the light-catching, energy-converting machinery of plants. Salad greens contain Vitamin A, Vitamin C, beta-carotene, calcium, folate, fiber, and phytonutrients. Leafy vegetables are a good choice for a healthful diet because they do not contain cholesterol and are naturally low in calories and sodium. Many of the health benefits that leafy greens provide come from phytonutrients, unique compounds that provide protection for plants. These compounds are becoming recognized as part of a nutritious diet that promotes long-term health. Phytonutrients can act as antioxidants, which help to prevent chronic diseases like cancer and heart disease .

Lettuce, the most commonly consumed leafy vegetable, provides about seven calories per 1 cup serving. When it comes to satisfying your appetite, it helps to eat foods high in volume but low in calories like lettuce. Lettuce is not typically a stand alone vegetable. It is usually served with an array of other vegetables and fruits or used to add a crunch to sandwiches, hold a variety of fillings as a wrap, or provide color as a garnish.

Lettuce and other leafy greens are generally cool season crops with short growing periods. This means gardeners can get several crops of salad greens in the time it takes other vegetables to reach final maturity. Because leafy greens can grow in a variety of locations, they are often available at local farmers’ markets. Home-gardeners can enjoy lettuce and other types of leafy vegetables planted in traditional rows, containers, or even as accents in flower gardens.

To make great salads you must start out with fresh produce, preferably organic. It’s the greens that are considered the powerhouse of nutrition, so include a variety of leafy greens in your salads. Green leaf, red leaf, romaine, spinach, kale…really any kind of greens can be added to your salad.

To your highly nutritious greens you can add a wide variety of raw vegetables. Make your salad colorful, fun and exceptionally nutritious by using all the colors of the rainbow. We love vegetables like carrots, beets, turnips, squash, sprouts, sweet potatoes, broccoli, bell peppers and red cabbage. But really, what ever you have on hand works well. To make your salad even more exotic try adding fruits, seeds, nuts and berries.

Food preparation is made easiest when you have the right equipment. First and foremost you must have a quality salad spinner to clean and dry your greens thoroughly. We found a great one at Bed Bath and Beyond. It’s large, spins and dries well and can be used to store your freshly prepared greens. You may find it convenient to prepare several days worth of greens at one time. That way, you can quickly throw some already cleaned leafy greens in a bowl and add a variety of raw veggies and “voila”, you have a fresh garden salad ready in no time

Beyond the salad spinner a sharp knife is mandatory and a mandolin and a food processor are helpful to have as well. One of the ways to avoid salad boredom is by varying the veggies you put in your salad and by varying the cuts of the vegetables. Slicing, dicing, shredding them into different sizes, shapes and lengths makes your salads more appetizing. Another way you can add variety and maintain the health benefits of green salads is to use a variety of homemade salad dressings. Start with our basic vinaigrette dressings and then dress it up by adding things like ginger, garlic, mustard, herbs, Braggs amino acids or other favorite spices.

Sadly only 1 out of 100 Americans are eating enough nutrient dense raw vegetables to get the benefit of defending them against cancer. A good rule of thumb to use is making salads and raw vegetables your main course for lunch and dinner. Dr. Fuhrman recommends 1 large head a day per person or about 1 pound of greens. Personally, We eat about 2 large salads daily – the size of a dinner salad you would get at Chili’s or some other comparable restaurant. The bottom line is You can never eat too many greens and raw veggies. So fill up on them first and you will be on your way to better health and longevity.

Mira Mesa Real Estate For Sale

Posted by admin | Posted in Bedding & Bath | Posted on 08-03-2010
