Does anyone know how much commission is paid to a real estate agent for rental properties in Westchester County in New York? I’m moving there in a few weeks, and am seriously considering getting the help of a real estate agent.
I don’t live in New York, but I’m just a few state away. Where I am it is set by the owner in agreement with their agent, and is about one months rent to the agent they choose. This agent then gives 25-40% of one months rent to another agent if the other agent finds the tenant.
The landlord typically pays 1 months rent. If there are 2 agents involved then they split it. If there’s only one then the agent keeps it all.
