This lead is just what I expected. I walk dogs at the local animal shelter and it can be difficult to harness or collar them to get them out of their kennels. This lead just slips over the head and tightens like a choke collar. I also use it on my own dogs at home, when I want to give them a bath, or leash them quickly for another reason. The nylon braid feels very secure, although it can give a rope burn if the dog pulls when you aren’t prepared. There is a hand grasp loop, though, which reduces that possibility if you are paying attention. For the price, it is a very good lead and would also be useful for training techniques as shown on “The Dog Whisperer.”

This is a perfectly fine leash, but it doesn’t work for me. I have a toy poodle who was a rescue from a puppy mill and is very leash shy. I thought maybe a soft leash I could just slip over her head when one was needed might do the trick, but this on is too thick [about 1/4"] and very stiff. It is like a hangman’s noose round her neck.
