We had a problem with our dog digging in our garden out back. Our plants would be dug up and the dog would come in covered with dirt on it’s legs and head. Considering how much it costs to replace our plants all of the time this was a good investment. It took a couple of times before our dog realized where the boundary is but after it got the point it doesn’t want to even go around the garden. After a while hopefully it will forget the garden so we don’t have to put this on him anymore. I think this was a great find.

This product is designed to deter dogs away from certain areas.
The barrier transmitter designed to look like a rock blends in fairly well outdoors. The base of “the rock” holds the 4 D batteries. It’s water resistant, but not waterproof.(you should not place it in an area where rain and water like to form puddles)On top of this transmitter beneath a lid are negative & positive buttons to select the range the signal works best. If the transmitter doesn’t seem to work at a lower number, you may increase the strength.
The basic set-up without wires is very simple, just a matter of placing the barrier transmitter in the right spot. This is the mode which I chose to use the barrier. Using the wire option is much more complicated.
The nylon collar holds the receiver, whose prongs should touch the dog’s chin. When the dog approaches the barrier transmitter, he’ll hear tones and feel a pulse type feeling from the prongs which in short time he’ll associate with the area and avoid it.
This is one of those products that can either reinforce him from an off limits area or not. It depends on the individual dog.
This product is only to deter the dog from off limit areas, it doesn’t work to keep him contained to an area.
It has helped stop my dog of his urge to dig beneath a fence. The digging was constant and he’s now found it unpleasant.
The impact on the dog’s behavior depends largely on the individual dog. For mine it worked and I’m happy with the results.

I got this thinking, maybe it would keep my Pug Puppy out of my library and stop him from sleeping in the bookshelf and peeing on my books, well, it did the trick, and after only two days, he avoids the room like the plague.
We also have an American Eskimo, much thicker coat, and this did absolutely nothing. We moved it outside, to see if we could get him to stop digging near one of my little trees, NOTHING. I don’t think he registered anything in regards to the ‘static interference.’
The rock isn’t overly large or unseemly looking, and it blended right into my outside landscaping. Because it wasn’t that big, I was able to hide it behind a floor vase in my libary, and it still worked just as well.
Bottom line-it worked on my pug, but I don’t know if I would pay $100 for this. I think with a few days of consistent training, I could have achieved the same results, and I have since then.

I was very happy to review this item for the Vine program. Petsafe is a trusted name in my household. I use their pet bowls, kennels for outdoor strays in winter, you name it. All of their products have never failed me, until this one.
I set it up according to the instructions. I was rather surprised at the size of the `rock’, it is tiny. I have a place in the back of the house that the dog loves to get into. It is an outdoor trash can which sits close to/near the grill. I have to constantly watch her outside or she is trying to get into both. I was hopeful this device would do the trick to keep her away. However, she seemed to think the rock was a toy for her. Also, the collar did not provide much as she was still willing to get near the rock which again, she thought was for her. I am happy the collar does not harm the pet but I did test the range and it only seemed to work within few feet, not much of a range to it. Sadly it was a failed device in this home.
I still trust Petsafe products but this one did not pass my test. It left me more frustrated and my dog thinking it was a fun thing to do rather than a disciplining area. Sadly I cannot recommend this product.

My husband and I were eager to try out this product on our dogs, hoping that it would keep them away from the garbage cans. As my review says: Epic Fail! We followed the instructions to a tee and trained both our dogs. Both of them thought it was a great game to play – jump over the rock! They paid no attention to the “static” correction and the dogs are fairly well behaved. To us, it wasn’t worth the time that we spent trying to even get it open. Epic fail!
