Manufactured by DB Fletcher Furniture Design @ www.dbfletcher.com Fletcher Capstan Tables The expanding table shown here is the result of many years of development, but follows a line of history of more than one and a half centuries. This, the Fletcher Capstan Table, is the only table in the world with its unique properties. It is a circular table which, when rotated at its outer perimeter, doubles its seating capacity, yet astonishingly remains truly circular. The expansion leaves are stored within the table and, in just four seconds, smoothly and quickly emerge upon rotation, rising and radially expanding outwards as the entire top is turned through 30Ëš. Existing tables can seat six persons when small, and twelve or more when expanded, but there are other design possibilities. All Capstan Tables are exclusively designed and built, and each one numbered. Careful consideration is always given to a table’s location and components are made to the highest standards. Nautical tables are so constructed that they are able to resist a harsh marine environment to the point that they may be positioned permanently on an exposed deck. Read about the genesis and history of the Radially Expanding Table. Specifications * Tables can be of any style and of any suitable material and are exclusively designed for each commission * The area of the table expands by 73% allowing two sizes with seating capacities of six and twelve. * Typical diameter variation — small size 1.9m (74.75″), large 2.5m (98.5″) * The operating mechanism is beautifully engineered, simple and robust. PATENT GRANTED. DESIGN RIGHT. (via boingboing)

I’m not saying they care. I’m just saying it’s a waste of materials given the fact that it is JUST a table however unique the design.
dude its mass production, they dont give a crap if materials are wasted
$95,000 for this table- it’s the most expensive round table in the world.
incredible!!
Is it Just me, or does it look like it “transformed” a little shabby at 0:51?
I think we’re gonna need a bigger boat…
sam is more awesome then james
haha xD…
ingenio puro ^^
la mejor mesa que he visto en mi vida!!!
very nice piece… but a lot of materials wasted
Just watch where you’re fingers are when you’re tweaking the table – could be painful
Kinda reminds me of a medieval torture device
LMFAO… indeed it is
This shit is the Optimus Prime of tables.
Actually to tell you the truch its not that hard to make as my friends have made one simular. Just takes alot of time if you know what i mean. :0
yeah, first time I saw this video I was imagining fingeres getting chopped and going in the table
I want this table, but I don’t want to pay 50k, can I try and make one myself? Just kidding! Good work, whoever made this! :3
heh im not gettin one of those. im too scared ill get my fingers cought in . ouch !
a work of art
i would LOVE to be there.. very pretty and i love the table!
They beauty in it is that it DOESNT have a motor and is smooth and fast.
TretasYT has a very good point. Adding a motor to it would be tacky and uninteresting.
i’d say it’s more than just a conversation piece. it *does* expand, after all, and anyone who’s ever had to deal with dropping table leaves into a table would appreciate the convenience.

Yea I am sure for like $50 bucks you could strap A motor to it..lol
Dude, what -is- your problem? You need to chill out. Some people think these would be cool if they worked automatically, you obviously don’t. Big deal, get over it.
