It’s fun to take a big bowl, or a large glass hurricane lamp and fill them up with Pinecones that you have lightly dusted with a fine gold glitter, or fill them up with various tree ornaments (balls) If you use the pinecone idea, add some red berries (hard ones that won’t rot)

Fill bright RED bowls with fruit.
Put RED accessories anywhere in the house…red ribbons tied in bows to candlesticks, door knobs, decorative bottles…a splash of red livens it up!
Paint a plain basket green or red and fill it up with huge pine cones. Set it on the fireplace mantle or in a empty corner to spice up an otherwise empty space.
Place colored ball ornaments in glass bowls or large vases. Throw some gold ribbon in with the balls and let the ribbon hang out over the top.
Hang stockings on bedroom doors with family member’s names on them.

My friend came up with this, You get some construction paper and cut 31 strippes (each strip is equal to one day in Dec.) You number each of the stripps and decorate them as you please with glitter or whatever and than link them together to make a chain and (if you have kids) have them take off a link of the chain everyday untill its christmas ( starting with 31). You can also use the same consept to just make Christmas chains to hang around the house that arent used as a xmas countdown

The funnest ornaments are made with cookie cutters and play-dough–either you can make your own dough or store bought dough. We use to make our own dough and color it with food coloring and you bake them in the oven for a while about 375* They will harden, but not brown. Remember to punch a hole so you can hang them. You can date them on the back and autograph too.
We use to cut construction paper of several colors and cut them in strips 3/4 inch wide and glue them in a loop making a chain with Miltie colors it is home made garland fun too for hours
The last one is time consuming and unless you have plenty of thimbles I would not recommend unless your children are around 7 or older: pop pop-corn and buy fresh cranberries more garland…a needle and fishing line or nylon thread…
Have fun and Merry Christmas

candles pine branches and pinecones are a real wintery christmas effect you can lay red ribbons bows or berrys in the branches and if you get real creative you can top it off with a little spray snow.I put the candles on different heights of clay pots to give a different height to the candles and then hide the clay pots with the christmas branches its a beautiful holiday effect!
